Tonight at monthly Council meeting, my regular mot

Tonight at monthly Council meeting, my regular motion on International Mother Language Day monument has been passed and agreed by all fellow Councillors.

International Mother Language Day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on 16 May 2007. The resolution A/RES/61/266 called upon Member States "to promote the
preservation and protection of all languages used by peoples of the world". By the same resolution, the General Assembly proclaimed 2008 as the International Year of Languages, to promote unity in diversity and international understanding, through multilingualism and multiculturalism. This initiative not only increased awareness of language issues, but also mobilized partners and resources
for supporting the implementation of strategies and policies in favour of language diversity and multilingualism in all parts of the world. Language is fundamental to communication of all kinds, and it is communication that makes change and development possible in human society. As a language, Irish is unique to Ireland and is, therefore, of crucial importance to the identity of the Irish
people, to Irish culture and to world heritage.

After the declaration of International Mother Language day by the UN, the monuments have been erected in different parts of the world in the name of Mother Language Monument. These monuments are heritage for all communities, no matter what languages we speak. The monument symbolises respect and tolerance for all cultures, especially the validity and equality of all . Our Council will be the first if it is installed here and it will enhance the image of Ireland too. Now waiting for the final approval from Memorial Committee of DLRCoCo.

For your information, please find below an update on the Meadowbrook Pool Tiling project.

The tiling refurbishment project of the pools at Meadowbrook Leisure Centre was completed on the 5th of February 2021. This concluded an extensive 12 week programme of works that included the extraction and replacement of both pool tile systems. To ensure longevity and future proofing of the pools, epoxy resin adhesive and grout were used to bond the tiles and specialist expansion joints were incorporated into the floor layout and design process. Following the completion of the tiling works, the pool plant equipment is now being prepared for recommissioning. An extensive recalibration programme of all pool plant equipment and associated control equipment is being prepared, with a view to having the pools filled and ready for reopening, once public health guidelines allow.

They will put one first in regional park and later in all children playgrounds in Dundrum, Stillorgan and Sandyford as there is none at the moment. It will make our playgrounds inclusive and friendly

Tonight at monthly Council meeting, my regular motion on International Mother Language Day monument has been passed and agreed by all fellow Councillors.
